Did you know that according to research, the single most significant factor predicting the effectiveness of therapy is the quality of the interaction between the client and the therapist?
Most people don’t know this — and there is still a widespread belief that the answer to difficult mental health questions lies primarily in a specific method.
I want you to be able to come and get to know me without risk or pressure — the first meeting is free of charge.
This is your opportunity to share your situation, get a first sense of how I work, and see whether we can find the right direction for you together.
No ready-made templates — only work designed for you.
Every meeting we have is individual. I listen, I ask questions, and I build a path forward according to your needs and goals.
We work in a way that moves you forward at every session — toward real change.
Please note: no Kela reimbursement.
About Me
I am Janne Eklund, an experienced and practical-minded mental health therapist. My work is grounded in humanity, genuine encounter, and holistic listening to the client.
My life experience has taught me that deep pain can become a significant source of strength when it is addressed in the right way.
I know what I am talking about. Before I began training as a therapist, I suffered from depression and anxiety for around forty years — until I found effective ways to change my situation.
JNot everyone is so fortunate, and that is why I am particularly motivated to help with these kinds of mental health challenges.
”I would argue that emotional traumatisation is one of the most misunderstood and poorly recognised phenomena there is. Its various consequences — often depression and anxiety — are treated with methods that simply do not produce sufficient results.”
In my therapeutic work I draw on methods including EMDR techniques, hypnosis, and experiential approaches. Trauma therapy is an important area, but it is only one part of a broader range of methods.
My qualifications include: Clinical Hypnotherapist (DCH), solution-focused brief therapist, and trained in the EMDR method. I have also completed basic studies in psychology at the University of Jyväskylä and studies in occupational psychology at the University of Joensuu.
I believe that real change happens when every story is seen and heard — one step at a time.
How I Work – and What I Value
My work is grounded in trust, humanity, and a practical approach. I do not offer ready-made answers — I walk alongside you, listening, asking, and discovering together. Every person is unique, and so every encounter is different. I believe that real change happens when a person is met as a whole — not as a diagnosis, a symptom, or a problem. My work combines evidence-based knowledge, experiential understanding, and effective methods such as EMDR and hypnosis.
My values are:
- Authenticity — I am present as myself, without roles or ready-made formulas.
- Compassion — I meet you with respect and appreciation.
- Hope — I believe change is possible, even when the starting point is difficult.
- Freedom — you have the right to choose your own path and your own pace.
- Meaning — every story has value, including yours.
”What matters most is not where you come from — but where you are headed.”

Testimonials
”I appreciated the way Janne meets me as a person. I felt I wasn’t a diagnosis or a patient — just a human being.”
”I got help with my situation. I was actually quite lost about what was even going on with me. I soon understood that I needed to work through grief, and that it is perfectly okay to feel sad. Somehow that understanding brought relief almost immediately.”
”I had suffered for a long time from severe panic disorder. I also came to understand how I had managed to develop it myself. I learned my way out of it too, and I can say I no longer even think about it.”
”You can share this with anyone as long as you don’t use my name — I had a trauma background that was severely limiting my life. I was no longer able to go to the shop without someone accompanying me. I wondered for a long time whether I had the strength to try once more if anything could be done. I was very hopeless and experienced strong self-destructive thoughts almost every day. I then went through around ten EMDR sessions. After that we met a few more times, as a kind of check to make sure everything was moving along as it should. I needn’t have worried. The whole process took a few months, and after that almost all of the symptoms are now gone. I now live a full and normal life free from the effects of trauma.”
”I could not have imagined beforehand how much working with yourself can change things. I mean change absolutely everything for the better.” (Client with a complex trauma background)
”The only way I can describe it is that I feel I have gotten my whole life back.” (Processing early sexual abuse took approximately two months in total)
With regard to depression and anxiety, the situation most often improves when we identify the root cause from which the anxiety and depression originate. This means that the depression or anxiety does not need to be worked on separately — although that is of course also possible.
